Dear Willie,

Our new member Guifi.net is no-nonsense organisation and we are very
happy that they decided to join APC.

Guifi.net has a very strong politics around fair management of the
network, openness (including floss), commons, network neutrality, and
community ownership and management of the network. You can read a lot
about it at https://guifi.net/es/node/54226 and elsewhere on their
website where they make public everything about the principles on which
the network is built and managed.

They do a lot of technological activities, including development and
research. Many APC members have been in touch with them for years and
have benefited from what Guifi.net has pioneered and openly shared.

It is quite possible that the article on apc.org does not include some
important details about the new member organisation, and it gives a
wrong impression. And it is good that you point that out. However, I
don't think that is a good reason for sharing your (in my opinion
unfounded) suspicions about them publicly on this list. I think that
Guifi.net is actually a very good partner for the principal discussion
about telecommunications which you are calling for.
