There must be the "deblob-check" script for some kernel options to patch the
source file instead of removing it completely. It's not downloaded by Gentoo
ebuilds for some reason.

AFAIU this case is covered by the Bug 324505 you submitted already to the
Gentoo bugzilla. This discussion should be moved to that thread.
